Construction

Loloi rugs are made from various construction methods.

Hand-Knotted

This is the most complex, difficult, and lengthy rug weaving process. As a result, hand-knotted rugs are usually very expensive because of their high quality and durability. Hand-knotted rugs experience minimal shedding. You can identify a hand-knotted rug from the individual knots that are visible on the back of the rug.

Hand-Tufted

Hand-tufted rugs take less time to produce, therefore they are more affordable but less durable. They have a thicker pile height, which makes them plusher. Additionally, they may shed in the beginning, but this will subside over time. You can identify a hand-tufted rug if it has a canvas backing behind the rug.

Hand-Hooked

Hooked rugs are very similar to hand-tufted rugs. Both are more affordable but less durable than hand-knotted rugs. Hooked rugs, however, shed less than hand-tufted rugs. A hand-hooked rug will have the same canvas backing as a hand-tufted rug, but its surface will look rounded.

Hand-Loomed

Similarly to hand-tufted and hand-hooked rugs, hand-loomed rugs are cheaper but less durable than hand-knotted rugs. It has a deep pile, which gives it a shaggy appearance. Natural fiber hand-loomed rugs tend to shed more than hand-tufted and hand-hooked rugs. On the other hand, synthetic hand-loomed rugs will experience minimal shedding.

Power Loomed

This is the most affordable rug construction because large machines produce them. Most power-loomed rugs are made from synthetic fibers like polyester and polypropylene, which don’t shed much. You can identify a power-loomed rug by the uniform pattern and colors that are visible at the back of the rug.

Ah, Joanna and Chip Gaines – the dynamic duo behind Magnolia Home, and the power couple who introduced us to the well-loved farmhouse aesthetic.

If you love the farmhouse look, you’re going to love the Caleb collection – a series of handwoven plaid rugs in soft muted blues and grays.

There’s no shortage of vintage-inspired rugs in this collection, but the ones that stand out are the Carlisle, Gloria, and Laura collections.

Carlisle is the quintessential vintage-looking rug. The distressed motif in a soft and muted color palette is just *chef’s kiss*.

Julia from CLJ is my favorite home decor blogger, so her Loloi collab is my ultimate favorite! Julia’s interior design style is transitional, so expect to see a lot of vintage-inspired pieces, stripes, plaids, and checks.

Every rug from her older collection (Jules, Rosemarie, Alice) is power-loomed and made from synthetic fiber. Meanwhile, her newer collection (Chirs and Francis) is hand-tufted and made from wool.

My pick: Polly Rug in Ivory + Natural (I love them all, so it was *really* hard to pick just one!)

Loloi x Amber Lewis

I’m a huge fan of Amber’s laid-back interior design style. When I think of Amber, I think “California casual chic” – very lived-in and relaxed.

Her collection includes power-loomed, hand-loomed, hand-knotted, and hand-woven rugs in neutral colors. You can’t go wrong with her bestselling Georgie, Billie, and Morgan range, especially if you want an antique or vintage look.

But, if you want something luxurious and handmade instead, try Ojai, Gwyneth, Woodland, or Collins. And if you’re looking for something different, I recommend Briyana, a modern spin on Morrocan rugs, and Mulholland, a handwoven beauty that shows off a dark and light gradient.

Who doesn’t know the queen of DIY, Angela Rose? She’s so inspiring and I love how her designs always feel fresh, colorful, and personal.

Both Aubrey and Blake rugs are power-loomed and have distressed and traditional motifs that resemble antique rugs. The biggest difference between both collections is the color palette – Aubrey is all about warm shades while Blake is a mix of warm and cool tones.

If you want something completely different, try the Colton collection. All of the rugs are handwoven and made of jute and cotton. Each rug in the collection has a variety of neutral and linear patterns.

It’s hard to miss Rifle Paper Co – the brand is known for its signature bold colors, hand-painted florals, and illustrated characters.

This is the collection for you if you’re looking for a whimsical rug. Most of their rugs are either power-loomed, printed, or hand-hooked and are filled with florals, traditional motifs, and animals.

The best part about this collection? There’s a wide variety of small non-slip rugs that are perfect for tight spots like the front of the sink or in an entryway.

The Loloi x Justina Blakeney collab is not for the faint-hearted. After all, Justina is the queen of color, prints, and all things bohemian. She coined the term “jungalow” and converted everyone to live with house plants. Myself included!

This collection is made for you if you’re looking for something completely unique and wild. Think tigers, snakes, village cityscapes, the moon, and the stars.

Loloi x ED Ellen Degeneres

I have to admit, I’m familiar with Ellen Degeneres as a comedian, rather than an interior designer or home decor enthusiast.

But, her rug collection doesn’t disappoint! They’re neutral, simple, and modern. Great for everyday spaces.

My pick: Pasadena in Bone

Loloi x Carrier & Company

I don’t know Carrier & Company very well, but their rug designs are contemporary yet timeless. This might be the only collaboration with Loloi that carries hand-knotted rugs.
