A Simple Mother’s Day Table Setting

My mother adored florals.

Growing up, our home was always filled with them.

From fresh blooms in the garden, faux arrangements inside the house, floral table linens, to little flower prints on our bedsheets!

It was just her way of bringing beauty into every corner.

So when it came to setting this table, the theme was an easy choice.

A sweet pastel floral table setting felt like the perfect way to honor the most special woman in my life.

To complete the table setting, I wanted to add as many florals as possible without overwhelming the table.

This is the final result, and I think it all came together so beautifully!

How many floral elements can you spot?

I’ll give you a hint – the tablecloth, table runner, napkins, and centerpiece have flowers on them!

Although there are more than three floral elements, each piece stands out in its own way and nothing is competing with each other.

That’s why this simple Mother’s Day table setting looks pretty and cohesive.

Blending Soft Florals & Pastel Hues

The trick to mixing different floral elements is to stick to soft pastel tones.

Bright, bold colors can overpower the table, making it look messy.

For this table setting, I layered a beige table runner with embroidered flowers over a sage green printed floral tablecloth.

Since both colors are light and muted, they complement each other well.

The most special part about this table setting is definitely this gorgeous table runner.

It’s perfect for my Mother’s Day table setting because this table runner actually belongs to my mother.

I knew I had to incorporate it somehow – after all, my love for creating table settings comes from my mother!

Even though the tablecloth has big, bold blooms, the soft, faded look keeps it subtle.

And interestingly, the table runner actually brings out the floral details on the tablecloth.

Besides that, this was my first time laying the table runner horizontally instead of running it down the length of the table.

With such a soft and muted color palette, this small change added a much-needed contrast.

Florals in Every Little Detail

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite floral moments from this simple Mother’s Day table setting.

First, the fresh blooms in the centerpiece.

I mean, you can’t have a floral-themed table setting without fresh flowers, right?

But, I’ll be honest.

I made a mistake – I should’ve gotten two bouquets instead of one to make the arrangement fuller.

Other than that, I LOVE this colorful spring floral arrangement.

The colors bring the table to life, and the mix of flowers adds beautiful texture and depth.

The next floral element I love is the rose napkin fold.

Using creative napkin folds to elevate my table settings is a new thing I’ve tried recently, and I’m absolutely obsessed!

So far, I’ve done a bow napkin fold, a heart version, and now a rose one.

You already know how much this table runner means to me, but come on, just look at the stunning embroidery work!

The embroidered roses on the runner add just the right amount of texture to the table.

Easy Upgrades To Elevate Your Mother’s Day Table

Not sure how to make your own floral arrangement? Same here!

I absolutely love fresh flowers, but I’m still figuring out how to arrange them myself.

That’s why I usually go for pre-arranged bouquets from the supermarket or florist.

They’re easy and affordable.

This one was a budget-friendly find, and while the flowers might not be the freshest, the convenience makes up for it.

All I had to do was take them out of the packaging, trim the stems to fit my vase, and they were good to go!

Plus, buying individual flowers to DIY an arrangement can get expensive fast.

And, there’s no guarantee it’ll turn out the way you imagined (unless you’re a pro, of course!)

One of my favorite ways to make a simple table setting feel a little more special is by adding candlesticks for some extra height.

I always reach for my gold tapered candlestick holders – they’re a staple in almost all my tablescapes.

But this time, I switched things up with taupe tapered candles instead of my usual ivory ones.

It’s a small and inexpensive change, but they add a hint of color and contrast without overpowering the table setting.

Finally, I’m all for mixing and matching different textures.

It’s an extremely easy way to add depth and dimension for any table setting.

For this Mother’s Day tablescape, there’s a little bit of everything: the smooth finish of the ceramic tableware, the delicate beaded details on the gold chargers, the subtle veining on the glasses, and the raw, organic texture of the stoneware vases.

All these little details make the dining table feel layered, inviting, and unique.
