An Indoor Summer Table Setting

Simple Indoor Table Settings For Summer

For this indoor summer table setting, I wanted to have some fun with textures and colors!

Since I usually lean toward simple, minimal decor, the challenge was figuring out how to add pops of color and layers of texture without losing that cohesive feel.

My solution?

I stuck to three main colors and played with them in different textures and shades to create a rich, layered look.

Here, I went with earthy greens, warm browns, and sunny yellows — just enough to bring a cozy, vibrant vibe to the table.

Colorful Indoor Summer Tablescapes

If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you’ve probably seen most of my tableware, flatware, and linens pop up time and again.

And that’s exactly what I want to share — you don’t need to constantly buy new pieces to create fresh tablescapes.

Shopping your own home and getting creative can lead to something beautiful and unique!

My biggest tip?

Invest in classic items that are versatile enough to mix and match, no matter the theme.

It’s all about making the most of what you already have!

Mix & Match Your Tableware

Is there a better color combo than gold, green, and white? I certainly can’t get enough!

Buying these gold scallop-rimmed plates in white and green was one of my best decisions — they truly go with everything!

Here’s a little tip I’ve picked up: splurge on classic dining plates in neutral colors like white, black, or beige.

If you want to elevate your table setting, add some fun with dessert plates in different colors or patterns.

You don’t have to spend much on dessert plates. Try finding unique pieces in thrift stores or on Facebook Marketplace.

Just layer them on top, and you’ve got an effortlessly stylish look!

Vintage drinking glasses - summer tablescapes

I have to tell you about these glasses. They’re vintage pieces from my late mother’s collection, and I absolutely love them.

What I love most is their texture; the veined pattern reminds me of tree branches, which feels so apt for this indoor summer table setting.

And the color! Even though they’re translucent, there’s such a richness and depth to the glass that adds a unique warmth to the table.

Overall, they’re a beautiful way to bring a bit of nature into my home and keep her memory close.

Keep Your Table Linens Simple

If there’s one thing you should take away from this indoor summer table setting, it is that you don’t always need to cover your entire table with a tablecloth!

If you have a beautiful wood table, let those gorgeous wood grains take the spotlight.

For me, I have a glass dining table, and while I do love the look of a tablecloth, sometimes I prefer to leave it bare.

I feel like it gives the place setting and centerpieces a chance to really shine.

Letting your table’s natural beauty show through can make a setting feel even more special!

Minimal green and white summer tablescapes

For this indoor summer table setting, I went with a checked table runner and round green placemats with little specks of gold.

I love using round placemats because they add a relaxed, informal vibe that’s perfect for family meals and casual get-togethers.

There’s just something so warm and welcoming about the look!

Bring The Outdoors Inside With Your Centerpieces

Hydrangeas in woven vase centerpiece for summer

Now, let’s talk about the pièce de résistance of this indoor summer table – my hydrangea arrangement in a large rattan vase.

I love how the vase adds texture and warmth to the whole setting. Plus, the vase is big enough that it draws attention immediately.

I chose hydrangeas because they’re a summer staple and come in a variety of pretty colors.

And, you only need a few stems to make the arrangement look so full and lush!

To make the arrangement more unique, I mixed in a few stems of green amaranthus for more texture.

What do you think of this floral arrangement?

Remember how I mentioned the importance of layering colors with different textures and shades to create a rich, layered look?

Here’s what I mean—just look at the greens in this setup!

There’s the soft green of the dessert plate, the deeper pine green of the other plate, and the lush forest green of the amaranthus.

These different shades add interest and contrast while still feeling balanced and cohesive.

Add thoughtful decorative pieces

Once you’ve set up your tableware and arranged your centerpieces, it’s time to add those little finishing touches.

I always love including candles in my table settings because scent is such an important part of the experience.

This candle is extra special. It smells like coconuts and comes in a beautifully textured ceramic vessel that elevates the whole look.

It even reminds me of the outdoors like boulders on a mountain!

I wanted to add some height to the candle to create balance on the table, so I placed it on this rustic handmade wooden pedestal.

I love the shape of the pedestal. It makes the table setting look way more interesting.

Lastly, I added a wooden tissue box since I didn’t include napkins.

I went with wood because its color and texture complement the rich brown tones in the rest of the table setting.

It’s all about keeping things cohesive while adding those practical little details that completes a table setting.
