ABOUT

Turning Thirty One

Hello and thank you for dropping by! My name is Lilian and welcome to my home decor and lifestyle blog.

That Isle Life aims to encourage regular women (like myself) to make their homes a happy place! How? By giving you tips and tricks on how to:

  • Decorate your home on a budget that works for you
  • Declutter and organize so you can have more time for things and people you love
  • Find comfort, peace, and joy in your home

MY JOURNEY

First of all, I never thought I’d be where I am today.

In the past, I lived life in the fast lane: I worked hard, partied hard, and traveled everywhere.

I was caught up in the rat race as I helped entrepreneurs build their dreams. I hustled to make more money so that I could own more things.

Working late nights, weekends, and holidays was the norm for me. I was constantly attached to my phone too; I always thought I couldn’t live without it.

Even when I could finally afford my own home, I barely spent time in it. (Funny story: I had to outsource my home renovation to an interior designer because I was overseeing three store openings for work!)

Although I was financially independent, my previous lifestyle gave me so much anxiety. Not to mention, I was riddled with health issues because I had no time to take care of my body. I ate out every day, gained a lot of weight, and had no motivation to be active.

I spent my free time catching up on sleep so I could hustle the next day. It was a vicious cycle.

THE TURNING POINT

But, everything changed in 2020 when I quit my job and the pandemic happened. To make things worse, my mother passed away unexpectedly.

Suddenly, I was spending all of my time at home and my anxiety and grief were crippling me.

It felt like a wake-up call I needed.

I started to declutter, organize, and redecorate to deal with my emotions.

Before I knew it, I was so inspired by all the things I could do to my home that I woke up every day with a purpose.

In fact, I feel more fulfilled now than I’d ever been throughout my career!

I’d never spent so much time at home until two years ago, but I absolutely loved it. Simplifying my lifestyle and prioritizing my home made me realize what’s important in life.

Now, I live a meaningful life where I’m able to spend quality time with family and friends in a place that gives me the most joy – my home.

I’m not a home expert or a professional organizer, and I’m still figuring things out as I go. But, hey, that’s all part of the fun!

WHY THAT ISLE LIFE?

People often think that they need to be rich or knowledgeable to build a perfect home. And, I’m here to prove them wrong.

First, there’s no such thing as a perfect home. Homes are meant to evolve, they will always be a work in progress. Just like us.

Second, I’m here to remind you that YOU are capable of doing anything your mind and heart desire. Look at me – I’m just a regular girl trying to make my home a happy space for me and my family. So can you!

Join me, as I share how you can do the same for yourself and your loved ones. Let’s learn, explore, make mistakes, and have fun together! X

ABOUT ME

I’m in my early thirties, and I live with my husband and Shih Tzu in our apartment.

I consider myself a creative, hence my education in journalism, fashion merchandising management, and hospitality management.

After I graduated, I worked in fashion for five years before I made the leap to work from home as a full-time blogger and content creator.

I enjoy writing, reading, decluttering, organizing, and making things look beautiful! When I’m not doing any of the above, I’m usually hanging out with my husband, hosting dinner parties, and binge-watching reality TV (it’s my guilty pleasure!)
