Practical minimalist Christmas gifts

Let’s start with the most practical person in your circle. She or he is probably well-organized and efficient. They are also consistent in their daily habits and make wise investments.

In short, they’re no-nonsense driven people and they’d probably love anything that can improve their quality of life!

Reusable mask

Looking for a mask that’s functional yet stylish? Give your practical minimalist friends the Atoms’ everyday mask.

The outer layer is made of a quick-dry polyester blend that is lightweight and breathable. And, the inner layer is made out of copper-lined ionized quartz yarn. Fun fact: copper kills viruses and bacteria within four hours, which is substantially quicker than other mask materials in the market!

Comes in 5 sizes (XXS – L) and 14 colors.

Stainless steel water bottle

I’m not the biggest fan of water except when it’s ice-cold. When I finally made the switch from a plastic bottle to a stainless steel water bottle, I drank WAY more water than I’d ever drunk in a day.

I love my stainless steel water bottle so much that I lugged it into the UK. When I had a sore throat, my water bottle saved me too. My water stayed warm for more than 12 hours. Incredible!

This S’well bottle uses a triple-layered vacuum-insulated construction to keep drinks cold for up to 36 hours and hot for up to 18 hours. The copper wall prevents condensation so the exterior (and your hands!) are dry at all times. It also comes in so many pretty colors like this pretty blush pink.

Unlike other stainless steel bottles, I love how sleek the shape is. It looks lightweight and fits in most medium-large bags!

Robot vacuum

I swear our robot vacuum is the best purchase we ever made in 2021. This tool cleans, mops, self-empties. I mean, what else can a girl ask for?

If your house doesn’t have pets or kids, you’ll probably be able to get away without mopping the floors for a month or two with this wonderful gadget!

The biggest selling point of this vacuum is its auto-empty station. If you go without one, you’ll spend a lot of time emptying the canister since it’s small. As my husband says, “There is no point getting a robot vacuum unless you have an auto-empty station. Saves so much time!”

Another highlight about this vacuum? You can set a daily timer so you’ll never forget to get it to run! We have it start at 10 AM every day so our floor feels fresh and spotless all the time!

Trust me when I say this is truly the best investment ever!

A label maker

I don’t have one yet BUT this is definitely on my to-purchase list. Husband, if you’re reading this, you know what to do!

I’m obsessed with organizing. I guess you can say quarantine made me do it! Jokes aside, organizing is so therapeutic and works wonders for my anxiety issues.

I still have so much to organize but I’m missing one nifty gadget – a label maker.

The Niimbot handheld thermal printer is compact, lightweight, and wireless. It is compatible with both iPhones and Androids. According to reviews, this label maker is worth every penny because it’s so easy to use and convenient to carry around!

Storage containers

What’s the one thing minimalists do once Christmas ends? They pack and store their Christmas items IMMEDIATELY.

Help them get organized by giving them these storage boxes with wheels. These storage boxes have…

  • smooth rolling wheels that can roll and rotate up to 360 degrees (wheel them everywhere in the home!)
  • opaque lids that snap firmly onto the base which provides a steady grip for easy lifting
  • clear bases that allow for quick identification
  • indexed lids that allow same size storage boxes to neatly stack upon each other therefore saving valuable space

Acrylic to-do board

Chances are, a practical minimalist enjoys planning his or her schedule. But, they probably don’t appreciate accumulating yearly planners.

Trade the usual hard copy planners for an acrylic weekly to-do board. You only need one for the whole family! It’s not only functional, but it also acts as a beautiful decor piece in the home office.

Phone case

The price of this phone case sounds exorbitant but hear me out. It’s not just any phone case. It’s a phone case that doubles up as a wallet and a wireless charger!

This phone case…

  • Comes with a slim wallet that fits up to 3 cards and a magnetic trapdoor that keeps cards securely hidden but still easily accessible
  • Is compatible with MagSafe charging
  • Comes with a 3-year warranty
  • Comes in 6 shades

Since your practical minimalist friends probably don’t like changing their phone cases, this is ONE phone case they will never need to swap out.

Diffuser

Do your minimalist friends love candles but don’t like how quickly they burn? Candles are wonderful, but they can take up so much space especially if you go through them quickly. (Confession: I have an entire cabinet dedicated to used candle jars.)

Give your friends a diffuser instead. This ceramic essential oil diffuser is designed to stream essential oil-infused scents into your home. It runs up to 7 hours and switches off by itself when the time is up or when it runs out of water.

Bonus: It comes in 5 neutral shades and looks amazing in any corner of the room.

Techie minimalist Christmas gifts

Some of the best gifts for minimalists are tech gifts. Why? Most tech gifts are designed to make our lives easier!

If your minimalist friend also happens to be a techie, here’s a brief round-up of some things they will use regularly.

Apple Watch

My brother just gifted me his old Apple watch and I’m so excited to use it! I’ve only heard great things about the watch.

My brother said this watch was the greatest motivator for him when he was on his fitness journey. Not only does the watch tell time, but it also tells you how many steps you’ve taken and how many calories you’ve lost whenever you’re working out.

Best of all, it can also alert the authorities should something terrible happen to you! What’s not to love?

Digital book subscription

I signed up for a Scribd subscription in 2020 and it completely changed my life!

To be honest, I prefer a digital book subscription over my Kindle because the Kindle is an extra device to carry around. With a digital book subscription such as Scribd, I can easily access it on the go on my mobile phone.

A cloud subscription

My family gifted me a cloud subscription last year – I guess they know me pretty darn well because it’s still one of the best gifts I’ve ever received.

As someone who takes lots of photos, I feel like my phone and computer never have enough storage! My photos are my prized possessions; knowing that my photos are backed up online makes me feel secure whenever I have to switch gadgets.

Airpods

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m hopeless with tidying cables, wires, and the like. When Apple first introduced the Airpods, I was immediately sold. I’ve used mine for three years now and they still sound amazing! I’m never going back to wired earphones.

Self-care minimalist Christmas gifts

There’s a lot of talk about self-care but it is important to take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally. Here are some things that will put a smile on your minimalist friend’s face!

Fruit and cheese charcuterie board

I received this as a gift for my birthday earlier this month and I loved it. You can’t go wrong with a fruit and cheese platter – it’s delicious and thoughtful! Food is the way to go if you can’t decide what to give.

Bath bombs

Forget colorful bubbles, Ouai’s chill pill is pure indulgence for adults only! According to reviews, these rose and jasmine-scented bath bombs don’t fizz as much as the typical bath bomb; but, they smell heavenly and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth after. If no one gives these to me, I’m buying them myself!

Hair/massage gift card

When you look good, you feel good. We are surrounded by ads telling us we need more “stuff” daily, but sometimes a haircut or massage is all we need to make ourselves feel good about ourselves, especially during the festive season.

Linen or bamboo bedsheets

Taking care of yourself includes getting a ton of quality rest. I can’t stress how important it is to invest in a pair of good-quality sheets.

People often think the higher the thread count the better, but this is so far from the truth! Invest in natural fabrics instead such as bamboo and linen as they are soft, durable, and breathable.

Sunday Bedding kindly gifted us with their best-selling Provenance Bamboo Sheet Set, which we LOVE. They’re not only cozy, but they’re good for the environment too!

Gold hoop earrings

I love jewelry but I’m allergic to fashion jewelry that isn’t pure gold or silver. Thankfully, there are so many options that offer affordable and stylish 14K gold jewelry you can sweat, shower, and sleep in. For example, Mejuri!

My style has also evolved over the years – as I embrace a more minimal lifestyle, I love wearing one or two classic pieces that I don’t have to take off. One of these pieces is my gold hoop earrings because they go with everything! At $70 a pair, these Mejuri hoops are a STEAL.

Indoor plant

Wait, you’re telling me I should give a friend a live thing they can kill?! Hear me out. Studies have shown that indoor plants can reduce stress levels and boost productivity.

Besides, indoor plants look GREAT in any home. If you’re looking for hardy indoor plants to give, try the popular snake plant or the nearly impossible-to-kill ZZ plant (we didn’t water ours for 5 months and it survived!)

Meaningful minimalist Christmas gifts

The best Christmas gifts for everyone (minimalists included!) are gifts that make a person feel special. These are my favorite gifts to give (and receive) because I know they’re guaranteed to make the recipient happy.

An experience

I love giving my loved ones experiences because they’re unique and memorable. Experiences are a great reminder that memories are more precious than material things.

Giving an experience is such a thoughtful gift because you can personalize it according to your friend’s interests and your budget. Some of my favorite experiences include spending the day at the beach, going for an intimate picnic, and playing with dogs.

Virtual lessons

If your minimalist friend or relative doesn’t want any physical gifts, consider giving them virtual lessons like a Masterclass subscription. After all, knowledge is one of the greatest gifts you can give someone.

Gone are the days when upskilling oneself means attending physical lessons in a school or an institution. Thanks to 2020, almost everything can be done virtually, and this includes learning how to write, bake, produce music, and more!

Charity donation

A charity donation is a gift that keeps on giving. Instead of giving each other more stuff, consider donating on behalf of your family and friends. Minimalists don’t like the idea of clutter anyway; so make this season a meaningful one and spread kindness around.

A photoshoot

This is hands-down one of my favorite gifts to give! I love the idea of getting professional photos because a professional photographer knows how to capture candid moments beautifully.

Plus, it frees you from trying to wrangle everyone together, set up the tripod, and figure out the timer. All you have to do is dress up and show up!

Trust me, hiring a professional photographer for any occasion is an investment. And, you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to use it. Every day with your loved ones is a gift!

Custom House Letterpress Portrait Art

This is a great gift for a sentimental minimalist! Celebrate a special building or home (your first home, your family home, your wedding venue, etc!) with a custom line drawing from Minted. There are 3 art print sizes, which you can purchase either framed or without.

A Christmas dinner

A Christmas dinner is a wonderful gift you can give to your family or closest friends. Women, especially those with children, tend to stress about hosting during the holidays. I get it because I’m that person in my family who wants to recreate the magic year after year!

If you don’t have a budget for catering, you can buy the groceries and set up a simple dinner for your family. Better still, rope everyone in the cooking process!

There may be one or two minor fights, but at the end of the day, just remember you’re creating precious memories with your family. You can’t buy that with money!

Quality time with family

Finally, there is nothing more sincere and beautiful than spending quality time with family during the holidays. I say this with conviction because I would give anything and everything to celebrate Christmas with my late mother.

Material gifts are nice, but that’s not what the holiday season is about. The true spirit of the holidays lies in surrounding yourself with your loved ones and opening your hearts to love.

“Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.” – Peg Bracken
