Whimsical Green And Gold Christmas Table Settings

Green and gold holiday tablescapes

Christmas is my favourite time of the year and one of the things I love most about the season is creating festive tablescapes. The theme for this year’s table settings is a whimsical green and gold Christmas.

As with all of my other table settings, I’m all about keeping things casual. You won’t find formal table settings or expensive tableware here.

This green and gold Christmas table settings is playful, relaxed, and perfect for brunches, lunch and dinner parties with close family and friends.

When I think of a whimsical Christmas, I immediately think of all of the Christmas ornaments I loved in my childhood (and still do as an adult!)

Instead of the traditional red and green Christmas decor I grew up with, I’m opting for one of my current favourite colour combinations: gold and green.

It may not have the nostalgia that red and green has, but I think it still looks incredibly festive and fun!

Green And Gold Tableware

Gold and green tableware

I love the idea of buying Christmas-themed tableware, but let’s be real. How many of us can actually afford to buy themed tableware for all occasions? And, how many of us actually have the storage space to keep all of the tableware?

I know I don’t 😆

That’s why I love investing in timeless tableware that takes me through every season.

I’ve used my white scalloped rim dining plates here; this time, I’ve paired the same dining plates with the prettiest pastel green dessert plates.

When purchasing dining plates, my top tip is to choose a plain set with subtle, special detailing like a fluted rim, scalloped edges, or uneven borders.

This way, the plates are stylish enough for special occasions yet practical for everyday dining.

Gold pairs beautifully with green and white, so I used my gold flatware with this table setting.

Gold cutlery is a must-have in my collection as it elevates any table setting. It truly transforms even the simplest dining setup into something special!

Lastly, I added my late mother’s vintage textured ombre glasses to complete the table settings. Although she’s no longer with us, I’m glad I get to include a piece of her in any way I can.

Neutral table linens

I decided to go for neutral-coloured table linens to make the green and gold accents pop.

I layered a brown crochet table runner over a beige tablecloth to create contrast and let the centerpieces take center stage.

If you only have plain tablecloths, I highly recommend investing in one or two textured table runners. They’re an easy way to add depth and character to an otherwise simple setup.

Of course, the ‘star’ of this table setting (pun totally intended!) is the rattan star placemat.

Not only does it fit the festive theme, but it looks great in person and in photos! The woven texture also enhances the entire tablescape.

Whimsical Christmas Centerpieces

Gold Christmas nutcracker - Festive table centerpieces

Besides Christmas trees, nutcrackers and Christmas villages truly capture the spirit of the holiday season.

I’m hoping these fun centerpieces spark conversation and invite guests to reminisce about their favourite memories and traditions!

Gold Christmas baubles - festive centerpieces

And, what’s Christmas without a tree and Christmas baubles right?

One effortless way to create a festive centerpiece is to group Christmas baubles in a bowl or on a cake stand.

Choose baubles in varying sizes, shapes, and finishes for visual interest, and consider mixing matte, glossy, and glittery textures to create depth.

Stylish And Functional Table Decor

When designing your holiday centerpieces, it’s important not to overlook functional pieces that can double up as decor!

This ensures that your table setting is both festive and functional, making your holiday celebrations even more special.

I love incorporating candles in my tablescapes, so I couldn’t resist adding this charming tealight candle holder shaped like a house!

I have a black salt crock that adds dimension to the tablescape, so I decided to use it as a holder for a tealight candle.

Gold and green servingware

Finally, servingware can enhance the overall aesthetic of a tablescape, especially when serving family-style meals.

Choosing serving pieces in complementary colour ties the theme together and adds visual interest to a table setting.

Additionally, you can consider using pedestals to elevate certain items, as varying heights can serve as focal points.

I have a tiny green decorative pot on a wooden pedestal, which I plan to fill with mini candy cane for an extra touch of fun!
