Are you thinking about buying a Space ergonomic chair but not sure if it’s the right chair for you? If you answered yes, keep scrolling to read my honest review below.
This is a non-sponsored post and I bought the Space ergonomic chair on my own.
If you’ve been browsing for an ergonomic chair online, chances are you’ve come across the Space ergonomic chair.
You might be wondering if it’s worth the money, but there are hardly any in-depth customer reviews to add to your research.
I got you!
Shopping for an ergonomic chair online is tough. That’s why I prefer to shop for ergonomic chairs in person.
I first discovered the Space ergonomic chair when I visited my friend’s house.
She invited me to work with her, so I had the opportunity to sit on the chair for a few hours.
At the time, I didn’t own an ergonomic chair at home and I was sitting on the hardest plastic chair with a throw pillow as my backrest.
Needless to say, I was in dire need of an ergonomic chair!
I was impressed with how comfortable the Space chair felt, so I decided to check it out for myself.
In this post, I’m sharing my honest Space ergonomic chair review – keep reading to learn about the pros, cons, and overall experience.

Why the Space Ergonomic Chair?
A showroom to try the chair in person
I’m not an impulse shopper by any means.
Although I’d tried the chair at my friend’s house, I knew I had to try it again just to be sure that I liked it.
Space has a showroom near my house, which is open 7 days a week. Yes, including Sundays!
This made it very convenient for me to drop by and try the chairs for myself. That was exactly what I did and on a Sunday too!
Aesthetic
While functionality is the most important factor, I wanted an ergonomic chair that was practical yet stylish.
After surveying many competitor brands like Alterseat and Evis, I liked Space’s design best.
Plus, it comes in 3 colors – Jet Black, Midnight Grey, and Storm White (my favorite!)
Price
Space’s prices are average for ergonomic chairs, which worked for my budget.
Space is not as expensive or premium as Secret Lab or Herman Miller, but they’re not as cheap as TTRacing or Alterseat.
I was careful not to go for the cheapest option because I’ve learned that you sometimes get what you pay for.
A few years ago, my husband bought a gaming chair for RM500 from a renowned chair brand in Malaysia.
While it served its purpose, it showed signs of wear and tear very quickly. Eventually, my husband replaced the chair because it broke after 3 years.
Since an ergonomic chair is something I’d use daily, I didn’t mind investing a little more in a high-quality chair.
Visiting the Space showroom
I was quickly sold on the Space ergonomic chair because of the amazing service I had when I visited the Space showroom.
As an introvert, visiting showrooms can feel overwhelming, especially when pushy sales associates are serving me.
But, my sales associate at Space was gentle, accommodating, patient, and knowledgeable. (I’m so sorry I forgot his name!)
Because of the warm service, I felt comfortable sitting on the chair for almost an hour and asking him everything I wanted to know about the chair.
After the showroom visit, I had no doubt I wanted to purchase the chair.
However, the showroom doesn’t carry ready stock, so all purchases will be delivered for free within 1-3 business days.
I was fully expecting to pay the full price of the chair, but I was pleasantly surprised when he gave me a discount of RM100 and a free laptop stand worth RM69.
For online purchases, you’ll get an RM100 off if you sign up for their newsletter but I’m not sure if you’ll be able to redeem a gift like I did.
If you’re based in Klang Valley, I highly recommend visiting the showroom to test their ergonomic chairs in person.
Delivery & Setting Up of the Space Ergonomic Chair
I bought my Space ergonomic chair on 7 October and they reached out to deliver my chair two days later via Lalamove.
Besides the prompt delivery, I liked that they were communicative throughout the process, so it felt reassuring.
The chair doesn’t come assembled, so you’ll need to do it yourself.
Don’t worry, the chair comes with instructions, so the setup was straightforward and took less than 30 minutes.

What I love about the Space Ergonomic Chair
Cooling and comfortable
What I love most about the Space ergonomic chair is that it’s made from a breathable mesh fabric.
I’m not a fan of faux leather, leather, or full-fabric chairs because they trap heat and make me sweat, especially in our tropical climate.
I hate the sticky sensation of my body sticking to the chair, so I’m glad to report that I have not experienced this at all with the Space chair.
It’s truly very comfortable, even when I’m sitting on it for hours!
Solid and sturdy
I liked that the Space ergonomic chair didn’t feel light, especially when I sat still.
On the contrary, it felt stable and the wheels didn’t move unless I moved.
Ergonomic
When I was using my old plastic chair, I suffered from constant back and neck pain.
After four months of using my Space ergonomic chair, all of my pain is gone!
I have to thank the natural S-shaped backrest that provides full ergonomic support and prevents slumping.
Plus, the flexible lumbar support helps to protect the natural curvature and custom fits my spine.
Perfect for working and resting
When I’m working, I like to take short breaks to relax my mind and my body.
When I don’t have time to go for a walk, I like to relax in my Space chair.
All I have to do is tilt the chair and headrest back and adjust the armrests for a more comfortable position.
This is easily achievable because of the chair’s liftable and rotatable headrest, 3D adjustable armrest, and 3-gear tilt mechanism.
On top of all of the above, here are 3 other things I love about the Space ergonomic chair:
- Great customer service
- Free delivery to West Malaysia
- 3-year warranty

What I didn’t like about the Space Ergonomic Chair
Color of castor wheels
If I’m being completely honest, I love the Space ergonomic chair.
There’s not much I don’t like about it, but if I could change one thing, I’d change the castors and wheels to white to match the body of the chair.
I remember asking the sales associate if there was an option to change them and he said no.
Expensive delivery to East Malaysia
I’m originally from East Malaysia, so I’m always looking for brands that offer free and quick delivery to my hometown.
Delivery takes about 5-8 days to East Malaysia, but shipping costs a whopping RM180!
I understand the package is bulky, but I hope they’ll be able to lower their shipping fees in the future.
Overall Experience
It’s been four months since I’ve purchased and used the chair.
Since then, my back and neck pain has gone.
And, I’ve truly enjoyed working in my home office because I finally have the right setup!
The Space ergonomic chair helped, but I believe it’s a combination of using the right chair, desk, and laptop stand that made all the difference.
Overall, I had a great experience with Space, and it’s one of the best purchases I made in 2023.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if the Space ergonomic chair fits me?
According to the Mayo Clinic, you have to choose a chair that supports your spine.
First, check the height of the chair. Can you adjust it so that your feet can rest flat on the fore?
Second, does the chair provide enough support for your back and neck?
Third, if the chair has armrests, can you position them so that your arms can sit gently on the armrests with your elbows close to your body?
Fourth, does sitting on the chair make you feel relaxed?
If you answered yes to four of these questions when sitting on the Space ergonomic chair, great news! You’ve found an ergonomic chair that fits you!
How does the Space ergonomic chair compare to a Secret Lab chair?
My husband owns a Secret Lab chair and he swears by it.
I’ve tried it multiple times, but I still prefer the Space ergonomic chair because of the breathable mesh fabric.
Even though the Secret Lab chair was comfortable, it felt too warm.
My husband’s Secret Lab chair is medium size, which is perfect for his height and weight.
But, it was too big and bulky for me. At times, I felt like I was too light for the chair and it made me feel like I was going to topple over.
I think it’s the wrong size for me, but there isn’t an official Secret Lab showroom in Malaysia and viewing is only available in a different showroom on an appointment basis.
So, I went with the effortless option, which was to visit the Space showroom on one of my free Sundays.
Conclusion
I’ve enjoyed sitting on my Space ergonomic chair, and I hope it can last for many years.
Hopefully, this review has given you more clarity about the Space ergonomic chair, and I hope you find the right ergonomic chair that fits your needs.
